DIY CARPET CLEANER... that actually works!

We have hardwood floors and tile throughout most of our house, and tile, but we have a few rooms with carpet and a large rug in our living room. I hate carpet because it gets dirty SO easy, is hard to clean, and with 5 family members {three of which are kids}, I feel like carpet never looks fresh or clean.

But since we have an area rug in the most used room in our home, you can imagine how much dirt it collects. From eating around the coffee table, to spilling milk {including chocolate milk}, to mud and dirt from shoes, the rug has its fair share of stains. And of course, I purchased a WHITE and blue striped rug. Hey... I love the chevron patter and the rug was on sale. And it looks great in m
y living room. When it's clean!

As you may be aware I've been using Young Living products since October of last year, and until just a month ago, I was only using oils for me and my family, not other oily products such as household cleaner, toothpaste or supplements. I have testimonies on all of those later, but today I'm focusing on the THIEVES HOUSEHOLD CLEANER. People, this stuff is amazing!

The cleaner comes in a 14.4 oz bottle of concentrate. I took an empty Febreze bottle, removed the label, and added 1 capful of Thieves cleaner to 1 quart {4 cups} of water. You can use any empty spray bottle!

Let me show you my rug before. Please notice the large brownish stain in the left middle. That's chocolate milk I tried my best to remove with Resolve and OxyClean months ago. That's the best I could get it to come out after over 15 minutes of scrubbing! And take a look at the gray stain in the bottom middle. I have no clue what that is, but my rug is covered in small ones just like that one all over. You can see them all over the rug! And y'all, I vacuum nearly every day!

I sprayed the cleaner on the large brown spot and the gray spot near the bottom, heavily soaking both areas. I let the cleaner set in the spots for about 5-6 minutes. Then with an old towel, I scrubbed each spot for about 6-8 minutes each. And ran the vacuum over it. Take a look at the difference!

I plan to do the rest of the rug this way, which will probably take a bit of time, but I was amazed at how well the stains came out!
